Urolithiasis in ankylosing spondylitis: Correlation with Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity index (BASDAI), Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index (BASFI) and Bath ankylosing spondylitis metrology index (BASMI)
Background: Increased incidence of renal stone has been reported in ankylosing spondylitis (AS), but unlike some well-known renal involvements, they have not been fully studied. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of AS with urolithiasis and also the relation between urinary stone and severity markers. Methods: One hundred-sixty three AS patients were included in a cross-s...
متن کاملCardiovascular disease in ankylosing spondylitis and osteoarthritis
Objective Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an inflammatory disease with documented elevated cardiovascular (CV) risk due to systemic inflammation and a higher prevalence of CV risk factors. CV risk management (CV-RM) could be an effective method to reduce CV mortality and morbidity in AS patients. We assessed CV risk and evaluated guideline adherence according to the Dutch CV-RM guideline. Method...

Background and aims: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an idiopathic chronic inflammatory disease mainly involves sacroiliac and axial joints; but it may also have extra-articular involvement. Accordingly, this study was designed to determine the frequency of cardiac involvement among patients with ankylosing spondylitis. Methods: This study was performed as a descriptive-analytical cross-se...
متن کاملASSOCIATION OF HLA-B27 WITH ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS IN ISFAHAN, IRAN
Using a standard microcytotoxicity (NIH) technique of tissue typing, the HLA-B27 antigen was identified in 30 out of 34 patients (HH.2%) with classical ankylosing spondylitis (AS), compared to 6 out of 70 controls (H.6%) (P < 0.005). We also found this antigen in 8 out of 76 (10.5%) patients with non-AS arthritis.

PURPOSE Response to infliximab treatment diminishes as body mass index (BMI) increases in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The purpose of the study was to determine if diminished response to infliximab treatment in patients with AS could be associated with increased visceral adipose tissue rather than increased BMI. METHODS Twenty six AS patients (21 males and five females) who fulf...
